What is NetQ Co-Location?
NetQ™ WebPortal is the next generation of integrated project management solution that enables telecommunications organizations to plan, design, build, and manage mobile/wireless networks more efficiently. Through one dynamic source, the NetQ™ Co-location module empowers tower owners, network operators, project managers, tower builders, site acquisition firms, infrastructure suppliers, government and other business partners to collaborate and streamline the process and management of network infrastructure build-outs. This allows for faster time-to-deployment and large capital savings on investment through co-location and site sharing ventures.
Why Co-Locate?
Mobile and wireless network operators are increasingly encouraged whenever possible, to co-locate with existing sites owned or operated by other carriers, because of the considerable efficiency it provides in helping to meet market demand. These sites are typically selected based on an area's radio frequency characteristics which are affected by: local terrain, existing structures, number of subscribers, distance from existing sites and availability of existing structures and equipment. Site-sharing or collocating, simplifies much of the Site Acquisition process required to expand coverage to a new area.
Main Benefits
NetQ Co-location also offers many benefits such as:
- Reduces the number of required on-site investigations for candidate sites
- Minimizes costs associated with obtaining building permits, lease agreements and other red-tape
- Utilize existing infrastructure and add where necessary
- Avoid cost of building a new tower or mast by site sharing
- Faster installation times
- Avoid having to wait for multiple on-site investigations
- Less intensive site selection and approval process (Permits, Licenses, Local and Federal Government Authorities, processes and regulations)
- Utilize existing structures rather than building intrusive new ones
- Quicker and more reliable service to residents and businesses in the area
- Pass on cost savings (i.e. lower rate plans, community developments, etc.)
Even if co-location is not feasible for an operator, the NetQ Co-location Portal can help determine which areas would be best suited for deploying a new tower, by allowing you to visualize where other sites are located.
Main Features
NetQ Co-location provides users with many tools to help manage their network infrastructure rollouts. These features help to:
